FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 organizers have released key transport information for transport in Qatar and tips for football fans visiting the country ahead of this year’s tournament, which will be held from November 20 to December 18. Public transport in Doha

Hamad International Airport is the gateway to the State of Qatar and the first to give visitors the ideal impression of Qatar. This highly regulated airport is a crucial factor in hosting the Qatar 2022 Football World Cup.

Post-arriving at Hamad International Airport, you can take the Doha Metro, and in just 30 minutes, you will be at the heart of the event along with tens of thousands of fans from around the world. The metro network covers all areas that host sports events for the World Cup.

24/7 Public Transport in Qatar

World Cup organizers confirmed that it is possible for the public to reach downtown Doha using bus and metro public transport in Qatar.

Free shuttle bus services are now operating between Souq Waqif metro station and Al Bidda Park that connect fans to locations across the B-Ring and C-Ring Roads and connect accommodation sites to activations.

Timetables and routes are available on the Mowasalat website. A-Ring Road now has a dedicated bus and taxi lane, which will be used exclusively by buses and taxis 24 hours a day during the tournament.

Sites have also been designated for drop-off and pick-up taxi passengers, smart application cars, and parking spaces for people with disabilities.

A statement explained that from Nov.14 to Dec. 18, Qatar public transport bus services operate every 15 minutes from 9 am to 5 pm, and there will be a bus every 7.5 minutes from 5 pm to 3 am.

Getting around Qatar has been planned so that most transportation infrastructure projects will be available during the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The plans were in the works even before Qatar won the rights to host the mega event as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Fans who come to watch the Qatar World Cup 2022 can take the Doha Metro, buses, or taxis directly to the venues in not more than 30 minutes.

Regarding getting around Qatar by metro, the statement stressed that the public can reach downtown Doha through the following metro stations located in the Corniche area, which is the DECC station on the Red Line, where it is possible to reach West Bay hotels, Corniche Activation North Zone, Hayya & Ticketing centers, shopping malls, West Bay Bus Hub (Stadium Express).

Metro Time tables

The Doha Metro transport in Qatar will operate for longer periods, from November 11 to December 20, to facilitate the movement of fans during the World Cup. Hayya Cardholders can use the metro free, from Saturday to Thursday from 6 am to 3 am and on Fridays from 9 am until 3 am.

Metro Lines

The fourth metro station is Al Bidda station on the Red and Green lines, for which one can reach FIFA Fan Festival, Corniche Activation Central Zone, and Al Bidda Park. Msheireb station on the Red, Green, and Gold lines, for which one can reach Corniche Activation Central Zone and Msheireb Centre.

Souq Waqif station on the Gold Line, for which one can reach Corniche Activation South Zone, Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif shops and restaurants, Souq Waqif Bus Hub North (Stadium Express), Souq Waqif Bus Hub South, and (cruise ship hotels & Doha International Airport).
